BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan Softball team went 2-0 against Glenville on Wednesday. The first match up ended in a 4-1 win and the second match up ended in a 6-3 win.
In the first win, to kick things off in the 1
st inning,
Krista Waggoner reached on a fielder's choice,
Sara Scoone advanced to third, and
Madison Casto scored. Then, Alylin Gutierrez reached on a fielder's choice, Waggoner advanced to second, and Scoone scored. Followed by
Brittani Bible singled to right field,
Morgan Bruce advanced to third, and Gutierrez scored the third run in the inning. During the 2
nd inning, Casto slugged a homer to left field for the final run of the game.
In the second win, in the 1
st inning,
Lauryn King doubled then advanced to third on an error by the shortstop and Scoone scored. Waggoner grounded out to the pitcher and King scored the second run. In the 4
th inning, Gutierrez doubled to left field; bringing home King and Scoone. In the 6
th inning, King doubled to left center while Scoone and Casto crossed home plate.
The Bobcats advance their overall record to 19-8 and 12-2 in the MEC. The team will return to the field at West Virginia State on Friday starting at 2pm and 4pm.
