Buckhannon- The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat Volleyball Team had their home opener on Tuesday evening. After a hot start with grabbing set one, the Bobcats fell 3-1 to nearby non-conference rival Davis & Elkins.
The early momentum for the Bobcats led them to a set 1 victory 25-19, with 13 kills in that set. The second set was a heated battle between the two sides. Despite having a 5-0 run late in the match, Wesleyan fell 26-24.Â
Wesleyan started off strong in set three, grabbing six of the first eight points. Down the stretch Davis & Elkins stayed consistent grabbing seven out of 10 points late in the match. Set three was taken by D&E 25-17. Wesleyan fell behind 12-3 to start set four and could not recover falling 25-17 to end the game.
Anaya Hyman led the Bobcats with 14 kills, and
Mackenzie Wheeler led the team in assists with 30. Bobcat Volleyball will be back in action Friday, September 7th as they travel to California, PA for the Vulcan Invitational.Â
