Kansas City, MO-- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Men's and Women's soccer programs received United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award honors for the 2018-19 academic year.
United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday the Team Academic Award winners at the high school and collegiate levels to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.
A total of 994 college teams (346 men, 648 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 258 schools who had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients.
The WVWC Men's Soccer Team under Head Coach
Gavin Donaldson would earn a 3.15 GPA and have this honor in the following years of (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019)
The WVWC Women's Soccer Team under Head Coach
Richard Owens would earn a 3.38 GPA and have this honor in the following years of (2002, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019).
A total of 989 college soccer teams received the honor for their performance in the classroom last year. To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum 3.00 GPA.
