Buckhannon, WV --Â Friday started with a ceremony celebrating the five seniors for West Virginia Wesleyan Volleyball, however, Fairmont State came to spoil the night. The Falcons took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-16. Not a single player on either side managed double digit kills in this one, as many of the points were scored on hitting, setting, and serving errors.
Fairmont's Lilianna Keber and Wesleyan's
Payton Hefner were the only players to reach double-digits in any scoring category, collecting 25 and 10 assists, respectively. Wesleyan's injury situation reared an ugly head on Friday night, as many of the top Lady Bobcat hitters came in with upper-body injuries that clearly affected performance. It was the worst hitting performance of the season, and it came after two of their best last weekend.Â
The five seniors that were honored on Friday night are
Ariel Walker,
Savannah Hoffman,
Morgan Johnson,
Hannah Jones, and
Madison Cooper. Wesleyan will turn right back around and play at the Rockefeller Center at 10 AM on Saturday against Frostburg State. Fairmont State will take on Davis & Elkins on Saturday at 2 PM in Elkins.
