Recap
Â
West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball was hoping that Wednesday would be the day that ended their recent slide. Unfortunately, Urbana marched back from a Wesleyan lead in the second half, and won on a last-second shot from Sylvia Hudson. The result spoiled a career day from Brittany Stawovy. The junior guard posted a career high with 31 points on Wednesday, knocking down six of her eight three-point attempts. She got off to a blazing start, putting up twenty points in the first half, and leading her team to a sixteen-point lead after twenty minutes. Coach McCloskey said the right things to her Blue Knights at halftime, and they erased the deficit on the back of one of the MEC's top players, Tyra James. Wesleyan tied the game up at 80-80 with a minute remaining on a Stawovy three-pointer, but Urbana took home the win with the final shot.
