Two Wesleyan Quarterback Greats Land Exciting New Coaching Opportunities

Buckhannon, WV—Two of West Virginia Wesleyan's greatest quarterbacks have landed new exciting coaching opportunities.  Scott Gasper '98 will join West Virginia University and Coach Neal Brown as the school's offensive recruiting coordinator. Adam Neugebauer'12 has been named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Slippery Rock University.

Gasper was a four-year starter at Wesleyan from 1995-98 and finished seventh in NCAA Division II in quarterback passing rating.  He continues to hold nine school passing records.  He was a first-team All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team selection during his senior year.  He was also the Bobcats' punter for two seasons.  Gasper played in the Arena Football League for the Norfolk Nighthawks and Rochester Brigade for two years and one year for the Orebro Black Nights in Sweden.

He joins WVU after serving as the director of player personnel at Indiana for the past four years.  He oversaw roster management, handled initial transcript evaluation, all official and unofficial visits and scheduled all of the recruiting travel for the coaching staff.  He also managed Indiana's recruiting database and worked with NFL scouts.

Prior to Indiana, he served as the quarterbacks coach at East Mississippi Community College from 2012-2014.  At that school, he coached an All-American quarterback in each of his seasons.  East Mississippi won back to back national championships in 2013 and 2014.

Gasper also made coaching stops at Laurel High School, MD, Knoxville Catholic High School, TN, Seton Hill University, PA, Bethany College, WV, Gatesburg High School, IL, and St. Joseph's College, IN.  He began his coaching career at Wesleyan in 1999. He holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from Wesleyan and earned his master's degree in public relations from Seton Hill.

Neugebauer was a standout quarterback at Wesleyan, where he broke 15 school records and never lost a home game in two years as a starter.  He led Division II in five offensive categories as a senior in 2011, including passing years (4,111), touchdowns (42), completions (353), completions per game (32), and yards per game (372).  A two-year captain, Neugebauer was named the Super One Region Player of the Year and the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.  He was also a finalist for the Harlin Hill Trophy and earned first team All-America honors.  Following his career at Wesleyan, Neugebauer played arena football for the Green Bay Blizzard and the Marion Blue Racers.

Neugebauer joins the coaching staff at Slippery Rock after spending the last two seasons as the quarterbacks coach at Georgetown University.  While working at Georgetown, Neugebauer also had the privilege of serving as head coach for USA Football at the 2018 International Bowl, where he coached 55 of the top high school players in the country to a win over Team Nordic (Sweden, Finland, Netherlands) at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Prior to joining Georgetown, Neugebauer coached at Tiffin University for five seasons, where he served in a number of roles including offensive coordinator in 2015 and 2016.  In 2016, the Dragons averaged 31 points per game and 435 yards of offense per game.  Tiffin broke multiple school records on offense, including amassing 5,011 yards of total offense.

Neugebauer earned a bachelor's degree at Wesleyan in political science and criminal justice.
