McGrew Continues Pro Basketball Success With Team USA Call Up

When Team USA Men's Basketball named their World Cup Qualifying roster, an unlikely name on the list for those that did not know his story was Tanner McGrew. McGrew, a 2016 Wesleyan graduate, has excelled in all ranks of pro basketball since his graduation. A former walk on for the Bobcats, Tanner began playing overseas before being named to the Memphis Hustle roster last fall, an NBA G-League affiliate.

On January 21st, McGrew continued his unlikely journey after being traded to the Salt Lake City Stars. McGrew has appeared in 11 games (four starts) with Salt Lake City, averaging 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 30.9 minutes. He has scored in double figures seven times with the Stars, including a season-high 25 points on Jan. 25 vs. Long Island.

McGrew earned 13 minutes of playing time in his first game with Team USA in a 111-80 win over Panama. He notched 5 points and 6 rebounds. In the most recent game last night versus Argentina, McGrew had seven minutes of playing time in the victory.
