Lady Bobcats Drop Game Against State

Institute, WV-- The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats would take on West Virginia State University in an away conference match-up this Saturday afternoon. 
The Lady Bobcats come into today's match-up with a 4-14 overall record and a 4-10 conference record, while State comes in with a 5-17 overall record and a 4-12 conference record. 

As the game would begin it would be a back and forth action between both teams until State started to pull ahead. At the end of the first quarter the Lady Bobcats would be losing 21-14, and looking to have a big second quarter going into the half. 

With the second half coming to a close it was an evenly matched second quarter as the Lady Bobcats put up 27 and State put up 26. The Lady Bobcats would shoot just over 40% from three and from the field, opposed to State shooting just over 50% from the field and 40% from three. Both squad's shooting at a decent rate and looking to continue until the final horn goes off. 

The start of the second half the teams would come out shooting and continuing to put up big numbers. At the end of the third quarter, the score would be 62-70. The Lady Bobcats would keep it close as the clock would be ticking down. In the forth quarter, the Lady Bobcats would end up shooting 44.2% from the field and 36% from behind the arc, as State continued to remain on top as they would shoot 48.5% from the field and 35.7% from three. 

Today's highlight players of today's match-up would be Victoria Jackson (16 pts, 3 steals, & 3 blocks), Nicole Gilyard (15 pts, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, assists, & steals), Brittany Stawovy ( 14 pts, 4 assists & 3 rebounds), and Alexa Szelong (12 pts, 4 rebounds & 3 assists). 

At the final buzzer, the Lady Bobcats would have 4 girls who had double digits, however it was not enough to take down State. The final score of this high scoring match-up would be 97-87. The Lady Bobcats are in action next Thursday against Urbana University in a Home game, come out and support your Lady Bobcats.
