Bobcats Drop Doubleheader to Findlay

Winter Haven, FL-- The West Virginia Wesleyan Baseball team comes into the game with a (3-4) overall record, as they are also coming off two straight wins and look to start a streak today. They would take on the University of Findlay for a doubleheader that was pushed back to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM due to rain the previous night.

Game 1:

On the mound for the Bobcats in game 1 would be Senior pitcher Hunter Rotarius. Rotarius is from Apopka, FL looking to pick up his first win of the season.

The Bobcats would be the home team for the first 7 innings as they take the field to get things started. It wouldn't turn out well for the Bobcats within the first 3 innings as the Oilers would put up 9 runs, as they clearly would take the momentum at the beginning of the game.

The Bobcats would need to put some runs together in order to get back in the game. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Eric Forbrick would step to the dish with a runner on first as he would hit the farthest ball of the day hitting a 2-run home run to give some life to the Bobcat bench.

The very next inning the Oilers would put up another run, however the Bobcats would answer as Nick Grotti would hit a solo home run off of the scoreboard in left field.

The very next few innings the game would be quite with no runs until the bottom of the 6th. Greg Smith would step to the plate with one runner on as he hits a home run to left center field to bring the score within 5 runs (10-5). In the same inning, Eric Forbrick would hit his second home run of the game cutting the lead to just 4 runs (10-6).

The Oilers would answer as they would put up 2 runs making it a 6 run ball game and the momentum for the Bobcats would go out the door as the would drop game 1 to the Oilers (12-6).

The Bobcat players of game 1 would be Eric Forbrick (2 for 4) 3 RBI's 2 HR's, Nick Grotti (2 for 3) HR, RBI, run, Greg Smith (1 for 4) HR, 2 RBI, 1 run and Jonathan Cintron (1 for 2) 2 BB's & 1 run.

Game 2 for the Bobcats will begin at 4:00 PM against the Oilers.

Game 2:

The Bobcats would look to split the difference against the University of Findlay as they would start the game at 4:00 PM. The Bobcats would be the away team for game 2 as they look to get on the board early and get ahead of the Oilers.

On the mound for the Bobcats would be Senior pitcher Dominic Castello for Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, as he looks to pick up his first win of the 2019 season.

The Oilers would be the first to strike as they put up one run in the bottom of the second inning. However the Bobcats would answer in the top of the 3rd inning with 2 runs as Travis Renner would start off the inning with a double down the left field line. Renner would read the wild pitch as he advances to 3rd base. Jonanthan Cintron would hit an infield single to 3rd to tie up the ball game 1-1 and would adnace to 2nd base on the wild throw from the 3rd baseman getting away. Ryan Kiser would then step to the plate as he would rip one up the middle to put the Bobcats up 2-1.

In the top of the 5th inning the Bobcats would get the opportunity to pile on a couple runs as they would do so tacking on 2 more runs. Travis Renner once again would lead things off as he would single to the left side. Ryan Kiser would come to the plate with bases loaded and would score two as the shortstop would throw it away trying to turn the double play, the Bobcats would take the lead 4-1.

The Oilers would not go down without a fight as they put up 4 runs the very next inning on 3 hits and the Bobcats would commit 2 errors. The Bobcats would now be down 5-4 as we head to the top of the 6th inning.

With 2 outs and it seemed that the Oilers were getting the momentum back, Until the Bobcats shortstop Tanner McCallister would hit a solo home run to left field to tie the ball game up 5-5. The Bobcats would let up 2 runs up in the bottom half of the inning, which they would need to answer in the top of the 7th.

The Bobcats would have the opportunities throughout the game, however the defensive mistakes would be to big of a factor as the Bobcats would lose 7-5.

The Bobcat players of the game would be Travis Renner (2 for 2) 2B 2 runs, Tanner McCallister (1 for 1), HR & RBI, Jonanthan Cintron (1 for 2) 2 runs and Dominic Castello (5IP, 3 Earned runs, 4 SO)
