Lady Bobcats Come Back For Big Win At West Liberty

West Liberty, WV — West Virginia Wesleyan came back to claim four singles matches and take a pivotal 4-3 conference win at West Liberty Wednesday. 


Julia Yanes closed out the deciding point in a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1 to give the Lady 'Cats their 5th MEC victory of the spring while knocking the Hilltoppers from the ranks of the league unbeatens. 

Mariona Junyer and Yanes each contributed two wins on the day, while Maddie Chen and Cecilia Martinez took singles points. Chen's triumph at #6 singles knotted the match at 3-3, setting the stage for Yanes' heroics.

The win raises WVWC's record to 10-6 overall, and 5-2 in MEC play with one match to play, giving the Lady Bobcats the inside track on the third seed in the conference tournament.
