Recap
Without one of their top shooters due to injury, it was going to be tough for Wesleyan to keep up with the scoring pace of WVSU. The Yellow Jackets did not quite get to their season average of 87.3 points on Thursday night, but they still came out with a 79-53 victory over the Lady 'Cats. Neither team shot particularly well, but Payton Shears and Destiny Fields stayed confident putting up shots and ended with twenty and eighteen points, respectively. For Wesleyan, it was
Cierra Tolbert who put together another strong game to add to her impressive freshman season. The first-year center recorded the first double-double of her career, which included sixteen points for the second game in a row, and a game-high seventeen rebounds.
Malaika Kimmons and
Nicole Gilyard also joined Tolbert in recording double-doubles.Â
