Buckhannon, WV -- West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics is excited to announce a partnership deal with Opendorse, an athletic marketing company aimed at giving student-athletes the tools to build their personal brands via social media. Through this partnership, WVWC student-athletes will now have individual access to all forms of media created through the Sports Information Department, including photos, videos, and graphics made specifically for their usage.
Opendorse is designed to equip student-athletes with the ability to create and share content that builds their following base. Consistently sharing relevant content will help shape their personal message, develop a public image, and make connections for a career after graduation. Opendorse utilizes Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn for posting through the platform. All WVWC student-athletes will have access to Opendorse with this partnership, and Marketing Manager & Director of Sports Information
Nate Chase will be providing athletes with a digital workshop discussing the importance of a personal brand, and best practices on developing one through the new platform.Â
On the new deal with Opendorse, Chase said "It is exciting to think about the opportunity that our student-athletes now have at their fingertips. More than 98% of college athletes will become professionals in a field other than sports, and we are looking to ensure that each student-athlete at West Virginia Wesleyan is maximizing their public image potential to make the jump to a post-graduate career more successful."
The social media partnership with Opendorse is apart of a larger brand-building process for WVWC Athletics. The department will also be launching visual brand additions to the Bobcats identity later this summer, and floor renovations are currently ongoing inside the
Rockefeller Center.Â
