Bridgeport, WV -- The Mountain East Conference has announced today that longtime WVIAC member Alderson Broaddus University has accepted an invitation to join the conference. Alderson Broaddus played along side West Virginia Wesleyan in the WVIAC from 1932-2013, and the two institutions will begin conference matchups again in 2020. At the request of Alderson Broaddus, the Battlers will compete in the Mountain East beginning this upcoming season.
Following the loss of Urbana University this Spring, the addition of Alderson Broaddus brings MEC membership back to twelve institutions. MEC Commissioner Reid Amos outlined the reasoning for bringing the Battlers into the conference, stating "Alderson Broaddus emerged through the membership process as an outstanding candidate due to the shared philosophy, goals, sports sponsorship, and geography with our member institutions."
West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics is excited to renew what is already a strong history of matchups with Alderson Broaddus, and welcomes them to the Mountain East Conference.
