SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (4-5-1, 4-4-0) women's soccer team snagged an early lead and held on to defeat Notre Dame College (3-3-3, 3-2-3), the reigning Mountain East Conference Tournament champions by a final mark of 1-0 at Mueller Field on Sunday, Oct. 10.Â
Only three minutes into the match, the ball was delivered to Morgan Mitchell at the top of the box. Mitchell tapped it to Paloma Zamora, who ripped a shot to the left of the diving NDC keeper for the early 1-0 advantage.Â
Towards the end of the first half between the 39th and 43rd minute, the Bobcats registered four shots on goal all saved by Jordan Pasalaqua of the Falcons. Wesleyan led 1-0 at halftime.
WVWC outshot Notre Dame (Ohio) by an 8-6 margin.
Paige Miller spent the entire 90 minutes in goal and secured a late save on a shot put on target by Madison Luckett during the 87th minute.
The Bobcats are scheduled to return home to Culpepper Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 5 p.m. against Alderson Broaddus.
