WVWC Forces Draw with No. 15 Concord

Lauren Baumgartner and MaKatlyn Tucker both scored goals in the home tie.

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (5-5-2, 5-4-1) women's soccer team battled No. 15 Concord (9-0-3, 7-0-3) to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Culpepper Stadium.

Wesleyan struck first in the 12th minute when the ball ricocheted to Lauren Baumgartner, who placed it into the bottom right corner of the net. The Bobcats led 1-0 at halftime.

After a foul was called on Hannah Murphy in the 48th minute, Yasmin Mosby lined up for a penalty kick and her attempt was saved on an incredible dive by Ally Moore. Only five minutes later, Morgan Carmichael scored off of the rebound.

MaKatlyn Tucker broke free and answered in the 67th minute with her fourth goal of the week by powering a shot past the Concord goalkeeper Leah Marsh.

The Bobcats were ahead 2-1 until the 84th minute when Mosby's shot deflected off of the left post and rolled in for the equalizer.

Both teams had several prime chances in both halves of overtime. Tucker almost delivered a golden goal in the 92nd minute when she fired a shot to the right of the net that was knocked away by Marsh. The defenses held strong as the game ended in a draw, 2-2. Moore made a total of five saves.

WVWC will travel to Glenville State next on Wednesday (Oct. 20).
