The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team (1-10, 1-1 Mountain East Conference) continues its slate of MEC matches this week with a home contest versus Glenville State on Tuesday (Oct. 5) and a road matchup versus West Virginia State on Friday (Oct. 8). Both matches are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve.

- The Bobcats collected their first win on Friday (Oct. 1) in their home opener versus Concord.
- Hope-Arce Reed, a sophomore from New Carrollton, Md., has totaled 20 kills in her last two matches and has 43 kills so far this season.
- Michela Ayers is the season kill leader for Wesleyan with 56 kills.
- Lexis Tatum led all Bobcat hitters with 24 kills in matches last week.
- Payton Hefner's 151 assists lead all Bobcat players. She leads the 'Cats with 11 service aces and tallied a career-high five aces in the match versus Concord.
- Seniors Maddi Carpenter and Kennedy Kuhns each have totaled eight service aces.
- Joelle Lalla's 0.76 blocks/set rank sixth out of all MEC players. Lalla has four block solos and 22 block assists this fall.
- Freshman Milan Reynolds racked up four block solos and four block assists in three matches last week. Reynolds' second block solo of the week sealed a WVWC victory over Concord.
- All-MEC Second Team and MEC All-Freshman Team member Autumn Molenhouse accumulated 93 digs in her first 11 matches as a sophomore. Molenhouse hauled in 35 digs last week.
- Sophomore Makenzie Yates eclipsed double-digit kills for the first time this season in Friday's match versus Concord.

Scouting Glenville State
GSC holds a 1-6 record. The Pioneers lost two matches in straight sets to Davis & Elkins and West Virginia State.Â

Ravenswood, W.Va., native Skylar Mace leads Glenville with 39 kills and eight service aces. The Pioneers have two players who have more than 50 assists: Julia King (83) and Sarah Grainger (55). Defensively, Sydney Goodrich is the dig leader for GSC with 33 digs. Mace has totaled 9.0 blocks in her first seven matches.Â

Scouting West Virginia State
The Yellow Jackets have rattled off 13 victories in their first 15 matches of the season. In week one of MEC play, WVSU defeated Concord and Glenville State in straight sets.

West Virginia State carries five seniors and one graduate student on their roster. Two-Time All-MEC First Team honoree Jenna Dufresne returns for her senior season. Dufresne leads all MEC players with 210 kills. Gabrielle Bullock ranks seventh in the MEC with 131 kills.

Two WVSU players have distributed over 200 assists. Kiersten Eggleton has passed 222 assists, while Peri Martin has accumulated 202 assists. Martin leads the Yellowjackets with 23 service aces, which ranks fifth in the MEC. Eggleton, Dufresne, Alex Darby and Rachelle Madison each have over 100 digs.

The Bobcats are scheduled to play three conference foes at the Rockefeller Center next week. Wesleyan will play Fairmont State on Oct. 12, Frostburg State on Oct. 14 and Davis & Elkins on Oct. 16. All three matches will begin at 7 p.m.
