BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis travelled north over the weekend to play a pair of matches in Pennsylvania at the Bloomsburg University Duals. On Friday (Oct.8), the 'Cats took on Bloomsburg, the following day, brought a matchup against Lock Haven. Wesleyan took the Friday contest 4-3 and swept Lock Haven 7-0.
 
WVWC 4, Bloomsburg 3
WVWC went down at doubles No.1 and 2, giving Bloomsburg the early point. Alanis Alvarez made her Bobcat debut, winning a tight doubles match with Molly Hull giving the Orange & Black momentum heading into singles play. 
 
Hull came out strong at No. 6, taking the match in straight sets (6-0, 6-3). Hull's victory leveled the contest at one apiece. Rebecca Osborne continued the momentum by storming back to take the second set to claim No. 3 singles (1-6, 6-3, (10-1)).
 
Madison Chen created her own comeback for the Bobcats, winning an essential point for WVWC at No. 5 (4-6, 6-4, (10-4)). Alvarez clinched the victory for the Bobcats, winning the deciding point at No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-4).
 
WVWC 7, Lock Haven 0
WVWC controlled the second match from start to finish starting in doubles. After taking the default point at doubles No. 3, Sai Sakamoto and Julia Pinto took clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory at No. 1. After that, Osborne and Chen did not concede a point at No. 2, giving WVWC the doubles sweep.
 
In singles play, Alvarez was awarded a default point at No. 6, giving WVWC the 2-0 advantage. A (6-0, 6-0) sweep by Chen at No. 4 left WVWC up 3-0 with four matches to play. Molly Osborne would clinch the victory at No. 3, winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-1). Hull, Pinto and Sakamoto won their respective matches to give the 'Cats the 7-0 victory.
