BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Symphonie Bryant-Brown posted a career-high in points as the West Virginia Wesleyan (2-1, 1-0) women's basketball team defeated Frostburg State (0-4, 0-1) 73-67 inside the Rockefeller Center on Saturday (Nov. 20) afternoon.

WVWC Leaders
Bryant-Brown lit up the scoreboard with 28 points and was the only Wesleyan player to score double-digit points. The Laurel, Md., native added two steals and one block to her stat sheet.
Electra Allembert grabbed 10 rebounds, which was good for a game-high.
Tamera Maple hit two three-point field goals and dished out two assists.

Frostburg State Leaders
Morgan Dombroski and Ciara Thomas both totaled 17 points. Dombroski led Frostburg State with six assists. Rhiana Hall collected four steals and nine rebounds.

Inside the First Half
Wesleyan trailed 7-4 midway through the first quarter. WVWC scored six consecutive points courtesy of a pair of made free throws by Bryant-Brown, a successful jump shot from
Cierra Tolbert and two good free throws from
Imani Jackson. After Frostburg cut the lead to one point at the 3:29 mark, the WVWC Bobcats went on an 8-0 run, capped off by a triple from Maple. A three-point basket from Bryant-Brown gave WVWC a ten-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Maple struck again with another three-point field goal to give Wesleyan an eleven-point lead in the second quarter.
Electra Allembert extended the WVWC lead to 14 with a jump shot in the paint. Allembert delivered a three-point play with 2:36 left in the half to build a 15-point lead for Wesleyan. Frostburg State cut into WVWC's lead and trailed the home team by 10 points at halftime.

Inside the Second Half
Wesleyan scored 13 out of the first 20 points of the second half and led by 16 with 6:00 to go in the third quarter. Frostburg State fought back and scored 17 consecutive points to claim a 54-53 lead in the waning moments of the third frame. The WVWC Bobcats responded and regained the lead thanks to a 4-0 run to close out the quarter. A made jump shot and two free throws from
Courtney Wilfong put Wesleyan up 57-54 heading into the final quarter.

The Frostburg State Bobcats tied the score at 59 after a three-point basket from Maggie Sharp. Maple and Jackson both hit two-point shots to put WVWC ahead 63-59 with 7:53 left. No score was recorded for the next 3:12 of game time. A successful jump shot from Dombroski pulled Frostburg State within two points with 4:41 remaining.
Ariana Harmon sank two free throws and put WVWC up 65-61. Bryant-Brown hit a clutch three-point shot with 3:39 to go and put WVWC ahead by six points. FSU cut the deficiet to four points down the stretch. Bryant-Brown made four free throws down the stretch and helped deliver WVWC's first conference win of the season 73-67.
