Tucker Scores Twice in Senior Day Victory

The WVWC women's soccer seniors went out with a win as Makatlyn Tucker added two more goals to her stat sheet.

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (8-7-3, 8-6-2) women's soccer team ended its season in a win column after taking a 2-0 decision over Davis & Elkins (7-10-0, 7-9-0) on Sunday (Nov. 7) at Culpepper Stadium.

Jadyn Taveklian, Ashlyn Ray, Orian Bar, Darcy Pope, MaKatlyn Tucker, Danielle Jonas, Natalie Pireu, Lauren Baumgartner, Jackie Zavala and Morgan Mitchell were honored before the game on Senior Day.

The first half did not see many opportunities for either side. In the 42nd minute, Tucker lured the D&E goalkeeper out of the net and dragged a shot off the bottom left post that ricocheted into the back of the net. Wesleyan took the momentum and a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Tucker scored her second goal of the game and eighth of the season on a long rocket that landed into the top left corner of the net for a 2-0 advantage during the 77th minute. On the breakaway in the 80th minute, Mitchell fired a shot that barely missed high.

Ally Moore made four saves in WVWC's ninth clean sheet of the season.
