CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team (2-2) was defeated by Charleston (1-2) in three sets on Tuesday (Feb. 16) night at the Wehrle Innovation Center in Charleston, W.Va.

WVWC Leaders
Emily Doyle posted 10 kills for the Bobcats. Doyle smashed two aces in the third set. The senior from Valrico, Fla., accumulated 12.0 points in the match.Â

Payton Hefner dished out 22 assists. On the defensive side,
Autumn Molenhouse had nine digs and Hefner added eight digs.

Charleston Leaders
The Charleston offense had a balanced attack in the match against Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles had four players with more than five kills. Junior outside hitter Rachel Phalen led Charleston with eight kills. Jessica Sunnenberg recorded seven kills while Beyonce Andrews and Jaxin Melby both had six kills.

The Golden Eagles' defensive scheme slowed down Wesleyan's attack. Sophomore middle blocker McKenzie Carpenter had one block solo and three block assists. Charleston totaled five blocks against Wesleyan. Freshman defensive specialist Madison Jackson led UC in digs with eight.

Inside the First Set
The Golden Eagles won the first set 25-16. Charleston hit at a 38.7 percent clip and had three service aces in the first frame.
Anaya Hyman led Wesleyan's attack and had four kills in the opening set.Â

Inside the Second Set
With the score at 12-11 in favor of UC, a 3-0 run sparked a scoring spree for the Golden Eagles. Charleston did not look back and outscored Wesleyan 14-6 to close out the set 25-17.
Emily Doyle recorded six of the 12 Bobcat kills in the second set.

Inside the Third Set
UC continued to control the match and took the third set 25-20. Charleston forced eight attack errors in the final set. Despite Doyle's three kills and two service aces, Charleston was victorious in set three and took the match 3-0.
