BUCKHANNON, W.Va.– The West Virginia Wesleyan swimming program opened up its regular season on Saturday (Feb. 6) at home against Mountain East Conference foe Davis & Elkins. On the women's side, WVWC won every event to outperform D&E by a final team score of 184-58.

On the men's side the contest was neck and neck the entire way, being decided by the final race. The Senators edged out the Bobcats in the 800-yard freestyle relay by a final score of 128-117.

Senior
Kay Lange had a strong showing on Saturday taking first place in three individual events: 500-free (5:38.39), 200-breast (2:39.32) and 1650-free (19:32.88). Lange also anchored the 800-free relay that consisted of
Alienor Dalle,
Morgan Choffin and
Amanda Schlor that took home first place for the Bobcats.

Schlor continued the success claiming three individual event victories as well. Schlor won the first event of the season posting a time of 1:02.19 in the 100-back. Schlor also won the 400-IM (5:06.14) and 200-back (2:19.54).

Dalle introduced herself to Bobcat Nation continuing the trend of individual victories taking home three herself. Dalle won the 100-fly (1:01.48), 50-free (26.70) and 100-free (58.30).

Jennifer Williams, GiGi Fusco and Choffin also won individual events for the Bobcats.

For the Wesleyan men,
Arthur Assfeld picked up he left off in 2019-2020 by posting the strongest performance of the day for the men. Assfeld won the 100-fly (52.91), 50-free (21.60) and 100-free (48.24). Arthur posted the fasted split in the men's 800-free relay with a blistering time of 1:48.10.

Michael McAlpine touched the wall first in two individual events winning the 1650-free (18:37.21) and the 500-free (5:18.26). Fellow senior
Mikel Pascual-Mugarza also took home a victory winning the 400-IM (4:43.22).

Both the Bobcat men's and women's teams will be in action again next Friday at home in Buckhannon as they host Salem and Alderson Broaddus at 6 p.m. on Senior Night.
