Volleyball Preview: Concord & Davis & Elkins

Bobcat volleyball prepares to wrap up regular season play.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team will conclude the regular season with two road contests. The Bobcats will travel to Concord on Tuesday (March 2) and to nearby Davis & Elkins on Friday (March 5). Both matches are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve. 
 
Quick Hits
  • The Bobcats swept a doubleheader over Glenville State last Tuesday (Feb. 23).
  • Wesleyan dropped a match at home against West Virginia State on Feb. 26 in three sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-17). The Bobcats hold a 5-3 record entering this week.
  • Freshman outside hitter Lexis Tatum continues her dominant spring campaign. Tatum has connected on 103 kills in 31 sets played, averaging 3.32 kills/set.
  • Sophomore Payton Hefner has dished out 241 assists in eight matches. Hefner leads the team with 12 service aces.
  • Defensive specialist Autumn Molenhouse leads the 'Cats with 122 digs this season. 
  • Three Bobcats hold double-digit block totals. Sophomore outside hitter Joelle Lalla leads Wesleyan with 18.0 blocks. Senior Lauryn Antolock has 17.0 blocks and Tatum has 13.0 blocks.
 
Scouting Concord
The Mountain Lions enter week five with an 0-6 record. Wesleyan downed Concord on Feb. 9 in three sets.
 
Amber Hall has posted the most kills (64) for CU. Imani Rodgers is Concord's assists leader (105) and Lindsay Maddux leads the team with 91 digs.
 
Scouting Davis & Elkins
After picking up its first loss of the season against Wesleyan on Friday (Feb. 19), Davis & Elkins won three home matches last week. The Senators beat Charleston and swept a doubleheader over Glenville State. D&E holds a tie in the Mountain East South Division with West Virginia State.
 
Macie Magallon has smashed 121 kills in seven matches for D&E. Magallon also leads the Senators with 18.0 blocks. Brilane Manchego owns the most assists (257) and service aces (9) for D&E.

The MEC Volleyball Tournament will start on March 9. Matchups and times are to be determined.
