Women's Swimming WVWC Sports Information

Women's Swimming Dominates, Men's Swimming Edged Out at Fairmont State

Alienor Dalle, Jennifer Williams and Arthur Assfeld were some of the top performers for WVWC swimming at Fairmont State.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan swimming program returned to the pool on Saturday (March 13) for a road meet at Fairmont State. Both squads had strong showings on the afternoon, but ended up splitting against the Falcons. The women's team prevailed by a score of 174-80 while the men lost a close decision by a final score of 144-118.
 
The women's squad logged a dominant performance from the first to last race winning 12 total events. Freshman Alienor Dalle led all Bobcat swimmers with four total events on the day (three individual, one relay). Dalle started her work early in the 200-medley relay. Dalle anchored the team of Amanda Schlor, Jennifer Williams and Alyssa Serrano to a finishing time of 1:59.03. 
 
Dalle continued her dominance winning the 200-free (2:07.08) and 100-butterfly (1:02.21). In Dalle's final event of the day she touched the wall in 28.04 to take home the victory in the 50-butterfly.
 
Kay Lange, Amanda Schlor and Jennifer Williams collected three victories on the day.
 
Lange won the 1000-free (11:37.53), 500-free (5:39.43) and anchored the team of Morgan Choffin, Hannah Cook and Lily Archer to a final time of 8:46.33 in the 800-free relay.
 
Amanda Schlor had another impressive day after her performance in the 200-medley relay, Schlor won the 100-back (1:03.42) and the 400-IM (5:10.40).
 
Williams had her best meet as a Bobcat. She took home first in the 50-breast (33.77) and 100-breast (1:14.21) after a strong showing in the 200-medley relay.
 
On the men's side senior Arthur Assfeld was impressive yet again by winning four events (three individual, one relay). Assfeld started the day leading off the 200-medley relay team of Marc Bennett, Michael McAlpine and Jakob Bohland. The relay touched the wall in 1:41.81. Assfeld continued his dominance in the pool by claiming victories in the 200-free (1:49.39), 50-free (22.19) and 100-free (49.63). 
 
Nathan Swalley and Santiago de Stefano Cavazos each won an event to round out the victories for WVWC.
 
The Wesleyan swimming program will head to Canton, Ohio from March 30- April 2 to take part in the MEC/GMAC championships.
