Pair of Second Half Goals Boost Bobcats in Road Victory

MaKatlyn Tucker scored a goal and provided an assist in the 3-2 road win at Notre Dame (Ohio).

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (2-1-0) women's soccer team was aided by two second half goals in a 3-2 win over Notre Dame (Ohio) (2-1-1) on Sunday (March 21) at Mueller Field. The victory marked the first time since 2015 that Wesleyan women's soccer won at Notre Dame (Ohio).

In the 16th minute, MaKatlyn Tucker sent the ball to Beth Burchett in the box. Making her first collegiate start, Burchett knocked it into the bottom right corner of the net to put WVWC on the board first.

Regina Ploplis answered for NDC during the 34th minute with a goal of her own to even the tally at 1-1 heading into halftime.

The score remained deadlocked until the 73rd minute when Olivia Simmons stepped in front of a pass before sending a through ball to Tucker, who kicked it into the right corner of the net.

Only a couple of minutes later, the two WVWC captains united for another Bobcat goal. Chrystal Posada connected a long pass through the air into the box where Kayla Fay headed it past the Falcon keeper for a 3-1 advantage.

Alyssa Wright converted a late goal for Notre Dame (Ohio) in the 88th minute, but the Falcons ran out of time. Ally Moore totaled five saves for the Bobcats.

Wesleyan's next scheduled contest is in Buckhannon at Ross Field against Davis & Elkins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.
