Frostburg State Edges WVWC

A penalty kick in the 72nd minute lifted Frostburg State over West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer.

FROSTBURG, Md. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (0-1-0) women's soccer team was limited to one shot in a 1-0 loss to Frostburg State (2-0-0) on Friday (March 5) at Bobcat Stadium.
 
After a few shots missed the mark from Frostburg State, Alexis Pate lined one up in the 23rd minute that was saved by Ally Moore. She recorded four saves in goal during her collegiate debut.
 
In the 30th minute, Morgan Mitchell fired a shot to the lower left of the goal that was stopped by the FSU keeper Ashley Bilger. The game was scoreless at halftime.
 
Ashley Chew tracked the ball along the right side in the 72nd minute and centered a pass to Lela Clark. Chrystal Posada was called for a foul on Clarke in the penalty area. Audra Curtin converted the penalty kick for Frostburg State to put the home team ahead, 1-0.
 
FSU continued to keep the ball away from WVWC as the 1-0 decision went final.
 
Wesleyan's next scheduled contest is in Buckhannon at Ross Field against Davis & Elkins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.
