Strong First Round Performances Lead WVWC Women's Golf at MEC Championship

Kiana Toole, Carleigh Bolyard and Sumire Ebioka all finished in the top 10 in round one of the Mountain East Conference Championship.

WARREN, Ohio -- The West Virginia Wesleyan women's golf team shot +53 overall and currently holds second place at the Mountain East Conference Championship at Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Warren Ohio.
 
WVWC shot 341 as a team in their first round. The Bobcats trail Charleston by three strokes.
 
Kiana Toole sits atop the individual leaderboard. Toole penciled a 79 on her scorecard and led the first round with 11 pars made.
 
Carleigh Bolyard had the second-lowest overall score and shot +9 on her first round. Her score of 81 strokes was her lowest round in 2021.
 
Sumire Ebioka inked an 84 for her first round, good for sixth overall in the tournament. Ebioka has placed in the top 10 in both events she has completed in 2021.
 
Bev Toothman finished her first round with 97 strokes, while Emma Bryan completed her first round with a score of 101.
 
The WVWC women's golf team will return to the course for the second round of the MEC Championship. Tee times will be announced on mountaineast.org.
