BUCKHANNON, W.Va.-- The West Virginia Wesleyan women's tennis team was in action on Friday (April 23) against Charleston. The Bobcats tried to continue their winning ways against the Golden Eagles but fell by a final score of 7-0.
In doubles action,
Madison Chen and
Molly Hull put together a valiant effort at No. 2 proving to be a tough matchup. The duo fell short on a couple of critical points to drop the match 6-4.
Charleston took control of the matches at No. 1 and No. 2 to give them the sweep in doubles.
In singles,
Julia Pinto topped the lineup for the Bobcats today at No. 1. Pinto came out on fire, winning the first set 6-3. Her opponent, Barbara Balancho, came back to win the second set 6-1. The two played a deciding third set in a "Super Tiebreaker" format, and Balancho fended off Pinto's early surge to take the set 10-4 and the victory.
The Eagles proved to be too much for the 'Cats the rest of the way sweeping WVWC in straight sets across the other five matches.
Up Next for WVWC is an away contest against West Liberty on Sunday (April 25). The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
