GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (17-11) softball team rallied late in game two, but turned in a doubleheader split at Glenville State (11-30) at the Sue Morris Sports Complex on Saturday (May 1).Â

Game One (WVWC 5, Glenville State 2)
The Pioneers struck first on a Karra Smith home run to left in the opening frame.Â
Â
WVWC responded with five unanswered runs scattered across the next four innings. In the top of the second,
Lauryn King crushed a solo shot over the left field fence for her fifth homer of the season.Â

Molly Osborne singled home
Grace Hightower to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the third. A
Kelley Bourne double put Wesleyan in front, 3-2 after four innings. Bourne picked up two more RBI on a sac-fly to center in the top of the fifth.Â

Abigail O'Shields (11-4) settled in to only allow three hits in the complete game victory. King was 2-for-3 at the plate.Â

Game Two (Glenville State 3, WVWC 2)
Glenville State took a 3-0 lead into the seventh inning while the Bobcats put together a late rally.Â
Â
With two outs and the bases loaded, Osborne rippled a single to center as
Kelley Bourne and
Shelby Kennedy scored.Â
Â
Hightower represented the tying run at second base and Osborne was the potential go-ahead run at first.
Brooke Clark grounded into a fielder's choice as the Pioneers held on.Â

Osborne and
Grace Smith finished 2-for-3 at the plate.Â
