The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan football team travels to Wheeling on Saturday (Oct. 2) for a 2 p.m. kickoff at Bishop Schmitt Field against the Cardinals.

Scouting Wheeling
Wheeling is 2-2 after back-to-back wins including a 28-6 victory at home versus Alderson Broaddus on Sept. 18 and 27-10 win at Glenville State.

Ryan LaFollette (23 receptions, 206 yards, three touchdowns) and Lowell Patron (19 catches, 255 yards, two touchdowns) are the receiving leaders for Wheeling.

Linebacker Dalton Hoover has a team-best 31 total tackles (25 solo) including 3.0 tackles for loss. Defensive end Brandon Munoz already has 4.5 sacks this season for the Cardinals.
The inaugural season of Wheeling football was 2018, but the Cardinals did not face Division-II varsity competition in the Mountain East Conference until 2019 with a roster almost completely comprised of freshmen and sophomores. Wheeling finished the 2021 spring season at 2-2 overall with wins over Alderson Broaddus and West Liberty.

Zac Bruney enters his fourth season in charge of the Wheeling football program.
