Golf Preview: Cal U Vulcan Invitational

The Wesleyan golf program is set to compete in a two-day event in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The Basics
The West Virginia Wesleyan men's & women's golf team will play in the Cal U Vulcan Invitational this Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5-6) at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa.
 
The men's team is scheduled to play 54 holes, with 36 being completed on Sunday. The women's team will play 18 holes each day. The scheduled tee time for the men's team is at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, and the women are set to tee off at 11:00 a.m. On Monday, the women are slated to have an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start, while the men are scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

  • The Wesleyan women's golf team completed their first event of the season on Friday (Sept. 3). The Bobcats finished in fourth place. Individually, Kiana Toole and Remmey Lohr placed fifth and seventh respectively.
  • The women's team was picked to finish second in the Mountain East Conference preseason poll. WVWC received one first-place vote.
  • This is the first competition of the fall season for the WVWC men's golf team.
  • The Bobcat men's team carries two graduate students, one senior, one junior, two sophomores, and three freshmen on the roster.

  • Matthew Allen, a senior from Newburg, W.Va., starts his senior year for the 'Cats.
  • Cami Roberts begins her second season at the helm of the Bobcat golf program.

The WVWC men's golf team will travel to Charleston, W.Va., for the Golden Eagle Invitational on Sept. 13-14. The Wesleyan women's golf squad will host the WVWC Invite on Sept. 16 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va.
