INSTITUTE, W.Va.-- Anthony Craven Jr. led all scorers with 28 points on Saturday (Jan. 8) inside the Walker Convocation Center, as the West Virginia Wesleyan (1-13, 0-8) men's basketball team dropped an away contest against West Virginia State (8-5, 3-3).

Leaders for WVWC
Craven Jr. hauled in seven rebounds and went 3-3 from behind the arc to go with his career-high in points.
Braeden McGrew had 15 points and five assists.

Leaders for WVSU
Ernest Jenkins led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points. Jeremiah Moore brought down 10 rebounds to secure his double-double. Glen Abram was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.

Inside the First Half
After the Yellow Jackets jumped out to an eight-point lead early in the half, WVWC got to within two points when Hibbitt made a jumper from the free-throw line making the score 13-11 with 13:29 remaining. WVSU would go on a 10-0 run over the next two minutes before Craven Jr. stopped the run with a jumper of his own. Craven Jr. had 14 points in the opening half.

Inside the Second Half
WVWC opened the second half outscoring the Yellow Jackets 15-10. With 6:09 left to play McGrew hit his first of three triples in half. The 'Cats outscored the Yellow Jackets 46-36 in the second half. WVWC forced WVSU into 15 turnovers in the final half
