Arce-Reed & Bajramovic Collect Double-Digit Kill Totals at West Virginia State

The duo racked up the most kills in Friday's (Oct. 28) match at WVSU.

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team (7-21, 3-11 Mountain East Conference) fell in a road match to West Virginia State (24-4, 11-3 MEC) on Friday (Oct. 28) night at the Walker Convocation Center in Institute, W.Va.
 
WVWC Leaders
Hope Arce-Reed led the Bobcats with 15 kills. Mya Bajramovic was in double digits with 12 kills. Payton Hefner passed a team-leading 20 assists. Abigail Rogers set a new career-high with 18 assists. Najla Bray had an outstanding night at the net with eight blocks. Autumn Molenhouse had a team-leading 18 digs.
 
Inside Set One
Both teams split the first 16 points of the match. WVSU took control of the match scoring seven straight points to lead 15-8 before winning the first set, 25-14.
 
Inside Set Two
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 10-5 lead to begin the second set. The Bobcats fired off three-straight points and trailed 10-8. WVSU responded with a four-point run and led 14-8. The Bobcats wouldn't get any closer before eventually dropping the second set, 25-19.
 
Inside Set Three
WVSU led 12-6 after 18 possible points. The Yellow Jackets claimed four of the next six points and led 16-8. The Bobcats responded by scoring five-consecutive points to trail 18-14. 
 
WVSU took the next two points and led 20-14. WVWC scored seven of the next nine points and trimmed the Yellow Jackets' lead to one point. Following kills from Bajramovic, Lalla and Arce-Reed, the Bobcats took their first lead of the set 23-22 before winning the third set, 25-22.
 
Inside Set Four
Both teams split the first ten points of the fourth set. WVSU took eight of the next nine points and led 13-6. The Bobcats fired off three straight points and trailed 13-9 but wouldn't get any closer. WVSU won the final set of the match, 25-19.
 
Up Next
The Bobcats will return home to face Glenville State at the Rockefeller Center on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m.
