Wesleyan Falls at Davis & Elkins

Hope Are-Reed led WVWC with nine kills.

ELKINS, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (5-12, 1-4 Mountain East Conference) volleyball team dropped its road contest against Davis & Elkins (10-7, 3-2 Mountain East Conference) on Tuesday (Oct. 4) night at the McDonnell Center in Elkins, W.Va.
 
WVWC Leaders
Hope Arce-Reed had a team-leading nine kills. Joelle Lalla and Mya Bajramovic each added eight kills. Payton Hefner passed a team-leading 19 assists and 12 digs. Bajramovic and Najla Bray led the Bobcats with 2 blocks each. 
 
Inside the First Set
The Senators jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead. WVWC cut the lead to two once at 9-11 but would never get closer.  Mya Bajramovic and Hope Arce-Reed each tallied three kills in the first set. Davis and Elkins would win set one, 25-16. 
 
Inside the Second Set
The two foes exchanged the first eight points to be tied 4-4 before D&E fired off a three-point "un and led 7-4. The Senators extended their lead to four 13-9 and forced a Wesleyan timeout.  After two kills from Mya Bajramovic and Lisdarelyn Grassals and a block from Joelle Lalla Wesleyan cut the deficit to two 21-23. D&E took two of the next three points to win set two, 25-22.
 
Inside the Third Set
D&E fired out of the gates taking seven of eight possible points and led 7-1. Joelle Lalla had four kills and Hope Arce-Reed tallied three in the third set. The Senators went on five runs of three or more points and won set three 25-17.
 
Up Next
The Bobcats will continue their MEC road trip on Friday (Oct. 7) versus Frostburg State at 7:00 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend on Saturday (Oct. 8) versus Fairmont State.
