FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan (5-15, 1-6 Mountain East Conference) volleyball team dropped a road contest versus Fairmont State (20-2, 6-1 MEC) on Saturday (Oct. 8) afternoon at the Feaster Center in Fairmont, W.Va.

WVWC Leaders
Hope Arce-Reed led the Bobcats at the net with six kills.
Riley France and
Mya Bajramovic each had five kills.
Payton Hefner passed a team-leading 12 assists. Bajramovic had a team-high four blocks.
Joelle Lalla added three blocks and
Najla Bray had two.
Alexis Moeschler led Wesleyan with eight digs and four service aces.

Inside the First Set
The two foes exchanged the first six decisions before Wesleyan scored two straight from an attack error and a kill from
Jayla Cowherd. The Falcons fired off a run of four points to retake the lead, 7-5. WVWC showed strong defensive efforts battling back to tie the score at 9-9 following a block from Lalla and Bajramovic.

Fairmont State took five of the next six points and led 14-10. The Bobcats showing resilience and fired off seven straight points to retake the lead, 18-16. The Falcons scored three straight points to retake the lead, 20-19. Fairmont State scored five of the last eight points and won set one, 25-22.

Inside the Second Set
The Bobcats started hot to begin the second set and led 5-2. The Falcons battled back to tie the score 13-13 and eventually took its first lead of the set at 15-14. Fairmont State took 11 of the next 15 points and won set two, 25-18.

Inside the Third Set
Fairmont State jumped out to a 5-1 lead in set three. WVWC battled back to tie the score 5-5 on a kill from Arce-Reed. The Falcons never surrendered the lead from that point and won set three 25-13.
