Swimming Earn a Victory Over Malone

The women dominate at the Natatorium.

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan swim program returned to the Natatorium on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday (Nov. 4) evening and welcomed Malone to the pool.

 

On the women's side, standout swimmer Alayna Crane had an unbelievable day earning herself three first place finishes. Crane started her streak with a victory in the 100 yard backstroke touching the wall in 1:05.65. She then continued to come in first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.36. She extended her great performances in the 200 yard backstroke coming in with a time of 2:25.03. Crane along with Alienor Dalle, Annalise Gentilozzi, and Morgan Bennet would end the day with a victory in the 400 yard free relay coming in at 3:59.73. Jennifer Williams earned first place in the 100 yard breaststroke hitting the wall at 1:18.23. Dalle would find herself with a pair of victories on the day as well in the 200 yard fly and 100 yard freestyle. 

 

For the men, Jack Gutekunst placed first in the 200 yard free at 1:55.13 and again in the 100 yard breast at 1:10.01.

 

The women's team defeated Malone by a score of 165-76, while the men were defeated 152-52. 

 

The WVWC swimming team will return to the pool on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 1 p.m. for a meet versus Franciscan in Buckhannon.
