BUCKHANNON, W.VA. – Eight West Virginia Wesleyan Athletics teams are in competition this week, highlighted by the WVWC golf teams returning to the course for their spring season.

The men's and women's golf team begins their spring season in Crofton, Md., for the Cal U Crofton Invite from March 21-22.

- On the men's side, freshman Alexis Abalos finished 26th individually in the Mountain East Conference Tournament in the fall of 2021.
- Three golfers return for the women's team. Senior Carleigh Bolyard was named MEC Player of the Week on Sep. 22 in 2021. Emma Bryan placed 10th in the Concord Invite last fall. Freshman Remmey Lohr placed second in her first collegiate event, shooting a 159 in two rounds.

WVWC tennis will welcome Davis & Elkins to Buckhannon on Wednesday (March 23) for an MEC match beginning at 3 p.m. The men's team has a road match scheduled at West Liberty on Saturday (March 26).

- The matchup versus the Senators for the men's team marks the start of MEC play. The Senators are 3-1 overall and knocked off West Virginia State in their first MEC match. West Liberty holds a 9-2 record and are unbeaten in MEC play.
- The women's team is 7-5 overall and 0-1 in MEC competition. Davis & Elkins is 2-2 overall and has yet to play an MEC match.

West Virginia Wesleyan softball has six games on the schedule this week. The Bobcats will square off against Salem on Thursday (March 24) for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wesleyan's first road MEC games are slated for this weekend against Glenville State on Saturday (March 26) at 1 p.m. and Concord on Sunday (March 27) at 1 p.m.

- The Bobcats swept Fairmont State on Friday (March 18) at Culpepper Field. Alli Robinson smacked a grand slam in game one to propel WVWC to a 6-2 victory. The Bobcats won game two 7-1. Abigail O'Shields tossed a one-run complete game to fend off the Fighting Falcons offense.
- Hannah Hudson was named MEC Pitcher of the Week on March 14. Hudson has recorded a 5-2 record and 64 strikeouts this season.
- Salem is 6-14. The Tigers dropped a doubleheader to Chestnut Hill on Sunday. The Pioneers are 5-11 and are 1-3 in MEC play. The Mountain Lions are 6-16 overall and are 0-4 in conference.

WVWC acrobatics & tumbling will travel to Frostburg, Md., for a meet versus Frostburg State on Saturday (March 26) at 1 p.m.

- Wesleyan is 2-2 and has posted wins versus Glenville State and Alderson Broaddus. Frostburg State is 3-1 in MEC competition.

The Bobcat baseball team will play its first home games this weekend. Wesleyan will open up the weekend versus Wheeling on Saturday (March 26) at 1 p.m. for a twinbill. The Bobcats will welcome West Liberty on Sunday (March 27) for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

- WVWC opened up MEC play last weekend going 0-4. Wheeling is 2-2 in conference play and West Liberty is 1-3 in MEC action.

The Bobcat lacrosse team will play Randolph in a non conference road game on Saturday (March 26) at 4 p.m.

- Wesleyan is 1-3 overall. This is the final non conference game on the WVWC lacrosse slate prior to MEC competition beginning next week. The Wildcats are 1-2 entering this week.
