Stokes Named to All-MEC First Team, Dengel & Howell Collect All-MEC Second Team Honors

Three WVWC acrobatics & tumbling team members were recognized by the Mountain East Conference.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia Wesleyan base Tiara Stokes was awarded All-Mountain East Conference First Team honors while top/base Joniah Howell and base/tumbler Emily Dengel earned All-MEC Second Team recognition on Thursday (April 7).
 
Stokes, a graduate student from Charleston, W.Va., locked up first-team honors following a strong final season. Stokes was named MEC Athlete of the Week on March 2. She plays the role of a base in the Compulsory event and is a tosser in the Pyramid event. Stokes is the fifth acrobatics & tumbling athlete in WVWC history to be named to the All-MEC First Team.
 
Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Dengel competes in 12 events for the Bobcats and participates in all six elements of the meet. Dengel was a key member of the squad as a top and a base.
 
Howell garnered All-MEC accolades for the third time in her career. Howell was named All-MEC First Team her freshman season in 2019 and earned All-MEC Second Team honors her junior season in 2021. A native of Waco, Texas, Howell competed in 12 events for the Bobcats. Howell posted a season-high score of 9.050 in the six-element pass versus Frostburg State.
