BETHANY, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan cross country program competed at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 10) in Bethany, W.Va. The men's team earned a fourth-place finish, while the women's team took home second place.
 
Three Bobcats, Cade Robinson, Anthony Sanders and Leigha Hall earned top-ten finishes in their respective races. Robinson took second with a time of 26:31 and ran a 5:20 pace. Sanders rounded out the top ten for the men's side finishing eighth with a time of 27:04 and a 5:26.7 pace. Hall picked up where she finished last season after earning All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honors and finished second with a time of 24:08. Hall ran a 6:28.4 pace.
 
On the men's side, Elijah Hannig finished 25th overall with a time of 28:12, while teammate Evan Pyles finished right behind, and claimed 26th with a time of 28:15. Sophomore Christian Cimaglia finished 31st with a time of 28:24. Cole Bracken crossed the finish line 49th overall with a time of 29:23. Freshman Jacob Angelo finished 55th with a time of 29:54.
 
On the women's side, freshmen Dakota Johnson (25:37), Marimo Akita (25:49) and Kristina Lesho (25:50) finished 11th, 12th and 13th. Alyssa Kelleher finished 38th overall with a time of 27:42. Rounding out the team scoring for WVWC was Alexa Gorondy, who finished 41st overall with a time of 28:10.
 
Both cross country teams will be back in action on Friday (Sept. 16) at Glendale Park for the Route 33 Cup in Elkins W.Va.
