BUCKHANNON, W.Va – The West Virginia Wesleyan Athletic Department is excited to welcome Joshua Petro as an assistant to the Track & Field program as well joining the Strength & Conditioning staff. Petro will work with the throwers and assist in the weight training of the Track & Field, Baseball and Softball programs.
Petro comes to Wesleyan after previously coaching at The Villages Charter School for four years. While at TVCS, he coached 13 State Qualifiers, 10 FHSAA Top-10 finishers, three Regional Champions and four school record holders. To go with his coaching success, he holds his USTFCCCA Technical Certification and USATF Level 1 Certification.
Joshua also worked with developing the youth while at TCVS, restarting the Pop Warner program as the President and Co-Director of the Buffalo Stampeders Youth Football and Cheer program. In three years, they were able to grow the program from three teams with 45 athletes to eight teams with over 100 athletes.
A graduate of Defiance College in 2018, Petro was a two-time conference champion and two-time All-Conference hammer thrower. He also was an academic All-American in the weight throw and the 2018 Male Athlete of the Year at Defiance College.
