BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Basketball will be back inside the Rockefeller Center on Saturday to face the West Liberty Hilltoppers at 2 p.m. WLU beat Wesleyan earlier in the season 88-47 and have won the previous eight meetings with the Bobcats.
WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers enter (11-8) overall and (9-4) in MEC play. WLU defeated Davis & Elkins 90-60 at home on Wednesday.
West Liberty features one of the Top-3 offenses in the conference, ranking 3
rd in Scoring Offense at 78.8 PPG. To go with that offense, the Hilltoppers lead the MEC in Team FG%, shooting 45% from the field. WLU also sits high in the league from behind the arc, ranking 2
nd in 3-Point FG% (36%) and 3-Point FGs Made (9.8). West Liberty does struggle with taking care of the ball, having a -6.05 Turnover Margin, which puts them last in the MEC.
Arriana Manzay is the leader of the Hilltopers, ranking 2
nd in the league in scoring (19.2 PPG), 1
st in FG% (67%), 1
st in blocks (1.4 BPG) and 3
rd in rebounding (9.9 RPG). Karly McCutchen has been a premiere offensive option as well, averaging 17.5 PPG (6
th MEC). Anna Lucarelli is averaging 3.9 APG, which leads West Liberty and ranks her T-4
th in the MEC.
Kyle Cooper is in his sixth season as Head Coach of the Hilltoppers. WLU won 21 games last season while also ranking 2
nd in the nation in PPG (82.3 PPG) and Top-10 in FG%, 3-Point FGs and 3-Point FGs/Game. He also coached All-American Audrey Tingle last season. Prior to taking over as HC, Cooper was the lead assistant for the WLU program for four seasons under Lynn Ullom. Cooper also spent two season as an assistant at Wheeling and one season as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Ohio University.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS
The Bobcats enter (3-13) overall and (2-11) in MEC play. Wesleyan is coming of an upset win at Wheeling on Wednesday 58-55.
WVWC rose to 3
rd in the MEC in Scoring Defense, dropping the opponents average to just 67.6 PPG. The Bobcats have gotten more production from behind the arc, ranking 7
th in 3-Point FG% (30%) and 3-Point FGs Made (5.5).
Emma Witt's average sits at 15.1 PPG, leading the Bobcats and good enough for 13
th in the MEC.
Daveona Hatchell is grabbing 6.3 RPG and Witt is averaging 6.0 RPG.
Courtney Wilfong is dishing out 3.4 APG to lead the Bobcats and put her 6
th best in the conference.
