Bobcats Begin Season with a Split in the Joe Retton Classic

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats men's basketball team opened its season Friday in a mixer tournament at Fairmont State University against two Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Conference schools.
 
In Friday's opener, the Bobcats sealed a 92-87 victory over Edinboro University. The victory was in large part due to the hot shooting of Deiker Pedrino who lit up the floor with a 32-point performance. Pedrino shot 11-for-16 from the field that included 4 three-pointers
 
Also contributing to the victory with double figures was Manasseh Small with 11 points, and Raphael Houssou with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Max Harris added 9 points and 8 rebounds to the cause and Alex Mirhosseini had 8 points and 6 assists.
 
On Saturday, the Bobcats fell to Bloomsburg University 98-93. Pedrino, again led the team in scoring with 25 points and Max Harris added 24 points and 9 rebounds.
 
Pedrino leads the Mountain East Conference (MEC) with an average of 28.5 points-per-game and the Bobcats are third in team scoring production, averaging 92.5 points a game. Max Harris checks in as the 7th leading scorer in the MEC, with a 16.5 points-per-game average. Harris is 4th in the conference with 8.5 rebounds per game.
 
The men's basketball team returns to action Monday, Nov. 13 when it hosts California University of Pa. in Rockefeller Center at 6 p.m.
