Indoor Track & Field Has Three Champions At MEC Championships

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams completed the indoor season at the MEC Indoor Championships this weekend. The women's team had three event champions and four other Top-3 finishes with the men's team having one Top-3 finisher.

MEC Champions
Ny'Tierra Hobbs won the 60-meter dash and broke the school record with an NCAA Provisional time of 7.56 (24th in the country)!

Hobbs then won the 200-meter dash and broke another school record with an NCAA Provisional time of 24.71 (35th in the country)!

Samantha Cash won the Pentathlon with an NCAA Provisional mark of 3345 points (31st in the country)!

Top Finishes
Leigha Hall placed 3rd in the 3000-meter run at 10:29.09 and 6th in the 5000-meter run at 18:47.83.

Jordan Lopez finished 3rd in the weight throw with a throw of 15.70m.

Samantha Cash set a meet record in the Pentathlon high jump at 1.61m. She also set a meet record in the Pentathlon long jump at 5.27m.

Cash placed 2nd in the triple jump at 11.50m, 3rd in the long jump at 5.35m and 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 1.57m.

Hayley Willey was 7th in the high jump at 1.47m.

Brady Browning was 5th in the pole vault at 2.93m.

Destry Nelson placed 5th in the pole vault at 3.00m.

Roman Moore was 6th in the weight throw with a throw of 14.10m.

Shannon Farrow finished 4th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 7.85.

Tanner Faulkiner finished 4th in the 60-meter dash (6.95) and in the 200-meter dash (22.25).

Aaron Kupfner placed 5th in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.49.

Sterlin Thropp ran a time of 50.01 to place 8th in the 400-meter dash.

Dakota Johnson placed 7th in the 800-meter run, crossing the line at 2:24.32.

Other notable performances
Aubrey Wiethe set a new PR in the 60-meter hudles at 9.38.
Tommy Hart ran a time of 7.18 in the 60-meter dash for a new personal-best.
Charles Malone also ran a 7.18 for a new PR as well.
Jacqualin Leaman threw 11.75m in the weight throw to set a new personal record.

Team Event Finishes
The women finished 4th in the 4x4 relay with a time of 4:03.64 and 4th in the distance medley with a time of 13:06.14.

The men finished 5th in the 4x4 relay with a time of 3:23.13 and 6th in the distance medley with a time of 10:41.02.

Where The Teams Placed
The women placed 3rd with 87 total points.

The men finished 8th with 34 total points.
