Women’s Lacrosse Drops Close One With Tiffin On The Road

TIFFIN, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse team fell to Tiffin University on Saturday evening 11-8 on the road. The Bobcats were outshot by the Dragons 42-18 and had 22 clears in the loss.

Makenzi Lewellyn started off a strong 1st Quarter by Wesleyan with two goals in the first 30 seconds. Kaitlyn Canby joined in on the offense, scoring a goal on a free position shot. Tiffin answered with just under the 11-minute mark on a goal from Gabby Wilson.

Raveena Navalgund went back-to-back to give the Bobcats a four-goal advantage until the Dragons scored with 20 seconds left to make it 5-2 Bobcats at the end of one. Neither team could find the back of the net in the 2nd Quarter, going scoreless with Wesleyan taking that same lead into the locker room.

Tiffin trimmed the lead in the opening seconds of the 2nd Half but Kaitlyn Canby and Raveena Navalgund gave the Bobcats their cushion back at 7-3. The Dragons scored consecutive goals to trim the WVWC lead to just two heading into the 4th Quarter.

TU took their first lead of the game at the 9:39 mark of the final quarter on a Lillian Graham goal. The Dragons stretched the lead to 11-7 before Makenzi Lewellyn added to her total for the night with 1:42 left. Tiffin grew too big of a lead and closed the game out on the Bobcats.

Katelyn Jarvis led the Dragons with four goals on seven shots. Gabby Wilson and Lillian Graham both scored three goals as well. Wilson contributed with two assists to go with her goals.

Makenzi Lewellyn and Raveena Navalgund had three goals apiece to lead Wesleyan. Kaitlyn Canby added two gaols. Gabriella Gomez totaled 21 saves on the night.
