Football Cats Continue to Struggle in 76-16 Loss to Golden Eagles

West Virginia Wesleyan College dropped its third contest of the season, 76-16, to undefeated University of Charleston Saturday at Laidley Field.

The ground game for the Bobcats could not find any space through the tough golden Eagle defense, gaining a meager 26 yards to UC's net of 376. For the season, Wesleyan has managed only 185 yards on 88 attempts (0.9 average) to its opponents' 1,005 yards on 124 attempts (7.9 average).

Through the air, the Bobcats scored its first touchdown of the year when Nathan Payne found Nathaniel Garnett Jr. for a 6-yard reception in the end zone to cap a 4-play, 65-yard drive, four minutes into the second half. Garnett Jr. led all Bobcats, totaling 98 yards on five catches.

Wesleyan celebrates homecoming with a 1 p.m. kickoff from Cebe Ross Field on Sept. 30 when West Virginia State University visits Buckhannon.
