Fairmont, W.Va.- The West Virginia Wesleyan College Bobcats men's basketball team opened its season Friday in a mixer tournament at Fairmont State University against two Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Conference schools.
The Bobcats fell in its first game to Edinboro 50-68. Edinboro recorded 14 points off turnovers and 19 points off the bench.
The best performance for the Bobcats came from
Alex Mirhosseini who racked up 29 points in the loss; he had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and shot 33-percent from behind the arc.
Michael Batchelor had 9 points along with 2 rebounds and 1 assist.
In the second game, the Bobcats picked up its first win against Bloomsburg, 80-72. Wesleyan recorded 17 points off turnovers, a key factor in the win. The Bobcats also topped Bloomsburg in second-chance-points and points in the paint.
Notable performers for Wesleyan included
Michael Batchelor with 26 points. Batchelor had 15 points from three-point land along with two defensive rebounds and 1 assist.
Alex Mirhosseini recorded 15 points, 8 assists, and 2 rebounds.
Curtis Litton had 13 points along with 4 rebounds.
Alexander Gray led the team with 15 total rebounds and contributed offensively with 9 points.
The Bobcats are set to play USC Beaufort at home on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.
