The Fighting Falcons Survive the Bobcats

West Virginia Wesleyan College hosted the No. 5 team in the conference, Fairmont State University, and lost 81-73 on Wednesday in Buckhannon.

Wesleyan shot an impressive 54 percent from the field but couldn't come up with clutch shots to give it the advantage over the Falcons. The Bobcats' leading scorer Deiker Padrino had a solid performance, putting up 23 points, and shot 57 percent from the field. Padrino was accompanied by Alex Mirhosseini (19 points) and Anthony Craven Jr. (12 points) in an attempt to overcome the Falcons.

Although Fairmont shot 29 percent from beyond the arc, the rebounds helped give the team the edge over the Bobcats, outrebounding to a 35-18 advantage. The fifth-place scoring leader in the conference David Jolinder led the charge, scoring 25 points and shot an impressive 63 percent from the field. Two players from the Falcons attributed double-digit performances in Cameron Whiteside (19 points) and Zyon Dobbs (10 points).

It was Senior Night in Rockefeller Center and Deiker Padrino, Jalen Canada and Anthony Craven Jr. were recognized.

The Bobcats head over to Elkins to face Davis and Elkins College for its last game of the regular season on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 4 p.m.
