West Virginia Wesleyan College faced off against Notre Dame College (Ohio) in a doubleheader on Sunday and prevailed in both games, 8-6 and 14-5, to start the season undefeated in conference play.

Thatcher Poteat got it started for the Bobcats in the first game by smacking a 2 RBI single in the top of the first inning to score
Jack Tilton and
Ryan Drag. The Falcons were quick to answer in the bottom of the first with an RBI double from Tyler Shadle to make it 2-1.

Notre Dame was able to tie the ball game in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Johnny Costella.
Â
It was quiet up until the bottom of the fourth as the Falcons tallied three runs from another RBI single from Costella and a 2 RBI double from Caden Gomes to make it 5-2.

The Bobcats were quick to retaliate in the top of the fifth with a pair of 2 RBI singles from
Josh Ayala and
Eddie Rueda and an RBI single from Drag to make it 7-5.

Notre Dame shortened the lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Carson Petrecca that scored Jacob Barker to make it 7-6.

Wesleyan provided the final blow with an RBI single from
Matt Turner to score Poteat and kept Notre Dame silent to win the first game 8-6. The losing pitcher was Eric Parriett and the winning pitcher was
Broderick Rohrbaugh with a save from
Austin Mann.

Game two was a different story as Wesleyan crushed Notre Dame in a 14-5 victory. Shearer and Poteat paved the way for victory as they both went 2-4 with six runs combined. Shearer was also able to obtain 5 RBI's in his efforts in the second game.

Also, spectacular pitching performances came from
Hunter Eplin as he went six innings with only two earned runs and
Drake Long who came in to close the game out.
The Bobcats look to stay hot in conference play as they take on Wheeling University in a doubleheader at home on Saturday, Mar. 23 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
