In the first round of the Mountain East Conference women's lacrosse tournament, Frostburg State University pummeled West Virginia Wesleyan College's net with 53 shots, 39 of them on goal, to take a 24-7 victory, Wednesday, in Frostburg.

The Frostburg defense was tenacious as well, causing 24 Wesleyan turnovers to Frostburg's 12 and claimed 26 ground balls to Wesleyan's 10.

Twelve players scored for the Bobcats of Frostburg. They were led by Neila Haney with five and Maura O'Neill and Camden Demaio each with three.

Four of seven Wesleyan goals came in the final quarter. In total,
Makenzi Lewellyn led the Bobcats with three goals,
Kaitlyn Canby scored twice and team scoring leaders
Erin Mobley and
Talia Berardo each scored one.

Emma Gomez served the final 60 minutes of the season in net, saving 15 of Frostburg's shots.

Wesleyan ends it's 2024 campaign with a 4-13 overall record and 1-8 in the conference.
