After going down twice to the visiting Davis and Elkins College Senators Sunday night, the Bobcats found the equalizer in the second half and walked away with a 3-3 tie in a hard-fought match in Buckhannon.
Â
Annoying drizzle throughout the match made for slippery conditions on the turf at Cebe Ross Field and this had plenty of impact on the Senators' first goal. Madeline Veser took a set play from 25 yards out that cleared the wall and hit Bobcat goalkeeper
Paula Garcia in her wet gloves. The ball slipped free and rolled into the net less than three minutes after kickoff.
Â
Nine minutes later, the Senators scored again when Alexa Karsel took a pass from Frederique Morin and shot it near post to put the Senators up 2-0.
Â
But the Bobcats fought back, starting with midfielder
Maggie Queen who buried her first goal of the year on a corner kick from forward
Ellie Pergolotti at 14:26.
Â
Forward
Kameron Bonneau notched her first goal of the season to tie the score in the 31st minute when she looped a high ball across the field from 35 yards out that found the far corner of the net.
Â
Davis and Elkins again grabbed the lead five minutes before the halftime break after Rafaela Leão found a bouncing ball in the penalty box from a corner kick.
Â
Midfielder
Ava Badallo touched a pinpoint pass from forward
Emma Pankiewicz into the back of the net to tie the match at 49:54 when Pankiewicz took a set play from 30 yards out.
Â
Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 2 when the Bobcats travel to Salem University for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
