Bobcats Sweep Davis & Elkins to Improve to 12-5

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — October 14, 2025 — West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball extended its winning ways with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Davis & Elkins (25–15, 25–9, 25–23) on Tuesday night inside the Rockefeller Center. The Bobcats moved to 12–5 overall and 4–1 in Mountain East Conference play, while the Senators fell to 0–16 (0–6 MEC)
 
It was volleyball youth night at the Rock as Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School's volleyball teams and parents came out in numbers to support the Bobcats and their own successful seasons.
 
Wesleyan's offense was firing efficiently throughout the match, hitting .348 as a team while holding Davis & Elkins to just a .135 percentage. The Bobcats dominated at the net and from the service line, finishing with eight total blocks and five aces.
 
Set one saw Wesleyan build momentum early behind sharp attacking and disciplined defense, closing the frame 25–15. In set two, the Bobcats played near-flawless volleyball—committing only one attack error and hitting .591 en route to a 25–9 win. Davis & Elkins challenged in the third set, but Wesleyan closed strong to seal the sweep 25–23
 
Bhrooke Axe led the offensive charge with a standout performance, recording 16 kills on .640 hitting and adding four block assists for a match-high 18 points. Lisdarelyn Grassals was dominant at the net as well, contributing 11 kills (.381) and three block assists. Setter Claire Wheeler directed the offense with precision, tallying 21 assists, while Lacey Guthrie added 13 assists and two service aces to keep the Senators' defense on its heels
 
Defensively, Faith Grafton anchored the back row with 17 digs, supported by Sydney Workman's four digs and Emily Denison's six kills on a .333 clip.
 
Wesleyan heads to MEC North Division leader Wheeling University on Friday, Oct. 17 for a 7 p.m. match against the Cardinals.
